When NFL defensive tackle @earlmitchell90 DM'd me a year ago and asked me to design his new bachelor pad condo... a few thoughts raced through my mind. First: this is going to be very different than my usual color palette because I don't think this man is going to want coastal blues and calming sand tones. Can I even pull this off? Two: this is in a tall residential condo building... that makes EVERYTHING more difficult. I pictured hundreds of elevator trips, parking in a garage and hauling all the wood, tools & furniture with no cart, and neighbors not wanting me drilling at 3am (understandably). The third thought was this: I LOVE a challenge😏. So I said yes, with a terrified smile.I wanted to keep it masculine but not too manly, modern but with some throw back touches, and rich but still cozy. It was a white box before he handed it over for a 3 day install (Friday-Sunday) & my main goal was to get texture on every wall. My favorite ah-ha moment was when I needed to move the electrical in the ceiling over the dining and living rooms. The building put them almost 5 feet off center😩 & you can't just move electrical in a building because it's a cement ceiling. I could have done a drop down soffit but I wanted to do something with a WOW factor. The floating wood paneling you see on the ceilings was my solution to that challenge. Earl also told me he loved LED lights... so adding that feature to the ceiling panels was a no-brainer. This is a bachelor pad after all😉.Earl, I cannot thank you enough for being so patient and waiting a year for me. You truly are 1 of the kindest, gentlest & most humble souls I know. It was an honor for us to get to do this for you. And I could NOT have pulled this off without my incredible team. My BFF & rockstar @jcdelgado2020 , you are my hero and crushed the wallpaper & panels. @chaosncream , you nailed those custom frames with the LED & now he has something truly one of a kind. And my dream team of interns lead by @monica_bustos17 , you girlbosses @kaymarryshow @lama.leonard @_ashley.oneill_ _ @_clairity_ are invaluable. ILYSM!!!
